Web 2.0 Is Hot in Japan...But Nobody Knows MySpace @ AJAXWORLD MAGAZINE
Web 2.0 Is Hot in Japan...But Nobody Knows MySpace @ AJAXWORLD MAGAZINE: "Nobody knows MySpace.
I opened my session by asking the audience 'How many people have heard of MySpace? Please raise your hand'. The audience became silent. Most people looked puzzled. Some of them were looking at each wondering what 'MySpace' means. Nobody raised hand. My translator asked me quietly what I meant by MySpace. As I was desperately explaining MySpace to her, she suddenly said 'Oh, that's like Mixi'. All of a sudden, the audience got it - MySpace is the Mixi in US. "

A Web 2.0 magazine of the future | News.blog | CNET News.com
A Web 2.0 magazine of the future | News.blog | CNET News.com: "JPG Magazine is doing the ultimate pulp mashup, tapping its community to provide material and vote on what gets published in print. All work is submitted for review by fellow photographers, and those chosen get $100 and a free subscription to the magazine.
As simple as this process sounds, it could have a seismic effect if adopted on a broad scale. JPG is essentially creating a print publication run by readers, drastically reducing the need for a traditional editorial staff. "

Keeping a Soldier Connected Web 2.0 Style
Keeping a Soldier Connected Web 2.0 Style: "Roland is a Second Lieutenant in the Army's Transportation Corp. We graduated together from Davidson College in 2005. But when I went to New York, he left for boot camp to fulfill his ROTC obligation.
But here he was, a year later, chatting at the end of his workday in an office on a base near the Ziggurat of Ur in Iraq. These are different times, aren't they?
Something has happened to our world. It started with “You’ve Got Mail!” and the tech boom of the 90s. That bubble burst, but now we are saturated in its soapy connectivity.
Call it post-bubble, call it Web 2.0, or call it an evolution in human communication. In our time, information travels at broadband rates.
And it's connecting a solider to his home."

RED HERRING | Religion Sites Embrace Web 2.0
RED HERRING | Religion Sites Embrace Web 2.0: "One has Psalms, the other has podcasts. One creates meaning out of Latin, an ancient language; the other finds new meanings through derivatives of common words, like “digg,” “friendster,” or “flickr.” One community meets every Sunday, the other meets with every click of a new web browser window."
